Choosing the Perfect Color for Roses

Posted by Amanda on 2/8/10

Flowers are one of the best ways to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries or simply say things like "I love you" and "Congratulations". Roses can be sent out for every type of occasion especially of the recipient loves that particular flower.

Roses come in every color of the rainbow and each color represents a certain feeling or just so happens to be the favorite color of the person that you are sending them to.

Red roses are the most common for the flower and they say more than what you might think. Traditionally they speak of love, romance, beauty, and passion. Darker varieties of red speak of unconscious beauty while withered red roses symbolize dying love.

Pink is also a very popular color choice for roses. That color generally means happiness, appreciation and dark pink symbolizes being thankful. White roses show purity and youth and yellow is the color of friendship. Roses do not always have to speak of a relationship that is concerned with love.

There are some colors that can be chosen for roses that are far off from the traditional red ones. Choosing orange means passion and desire. Blue roses have an air of mystery about them. Lavender colored ones speak of enchantment. Black can mean death or loss.

While the color is important, there are also a couple of other things to consider. A bouquet of roses is stunning, but single roses speak of simplicity, which is equally as stunning. In addition, two roses mean that there is an engagement on its way.

Putting together a bouquet of two colors is also a beautiful thing to do. Do not forget the leaves because they are used as a symbol of hope. Lastly, thorn-less roses are a symbol of love at first sight and that can lead to other dates, an engagement or a monthly bouquet that speaks of beauty ever new.

When choosing colored roses choose the ones that will mean most to the flower receiver. Roses can be dyed to achieve the perfect color or a unique two toned look. Whatever the occasion say it in the best way with roses.
